Architects and interior designers in the Aspen and Roaring Folk Valley create contemporary masterpieces yearly. Their secret? Let the designs reflect the landscape, and create rooms that become sanctuaries of comfort and timeless style.

INSPIRATION

"When we begin a project in Aspen, the conversation often starts with the big views dramatic mountain vistas that naturally draw the eye," says Zac Rockett, RA, AIA, the firm's cofounder and principal. "But what we've found most rewarding, and often unexpected, are the smaller, more intimate relationships with the land that reveal themselves through thoughtful design. These might be subtle shifts in topography, filtered light through aspen groves, or the quiet orientation of a home toward a private clearing."

DESIGN LEGACY

"The most fulfilling aspect of completing a project is stepping back and reflecting on the process necessary to bring it to life," says Rockett. "It's humbling to consider how many pieces, parts, hours, and individuals were involved in conceiving and constructing the structure. Without fail, each time we complete the process, were reminded that just as the building becomes part of the larger landscape, so are our marks on paper and earth part of something greater."
